NOTE:
There are several hardware variations for IWE1100-A. The firmware version number designates the hardware variations and firmware features. The format of the firmware version number is MajorHw.MajorFw.RFType.BuildNum, where

  • MajorHw:   Major Hardware, major hardware platform variation
  • MajorFw:   Major Firmware, major firmware feature changes
  • RFType:     RF Type, type of RF module used
  • BuildNum: Build Number, used as a tag for a firmware build

Check the hardware variation and RF module type of your device before downloading a correct version of firmware for upgrade.

WARNING:

  • Use an incorrect version of firmware for your device will corrupt the flash memory of the device and make it unworkable. Therefore, be cautious about the model, hardware generation and variation of your device by carefully checking your current firmware version first.  

To upgrade the firmware by TFTP:

  1. Get a computer that will be used as a TFTP server and as a managing computer to trigger the upgrade process.
  2. Connect the computer and the LAN/Config Ethernet port of IWE1100-A AP with a crossover Ethernet cable. (We have included a crossover Ethernet cable in the package for IWE1100-A AP).
  3. Configure IP address of the computer so that the AP and the computer are in the same IP subnet.
  4. On the computer, run the TFTP Server utility. And specify the folder in which the firmware files reside.
  5. On the computer, run MS Internet Explorer and click the Upgrade Firmware hyperlink.
  6. Specify the IP address of the computer, which acts as a TFTP server. If you don't know the IP address of the computer, open a Command Prompt, and type IpConfig, then press the Enter key.
  7. Trigger the firmware upgrade process by clicking Upgrade.
  8. Delete the contents of the Web browser cache (temporary Internet files), so that the Web management pages can be shown correctly after the upgrade.

To upgrade the firmware by HTTP:

  1. Run MS Internet Explorer on the managing computer and connect to the IWE1100-A.
  2. Within the Web management UI, click the Upgrade Firmware hyperlink and choose HTTP as the firmware management protocol.
  3. Click Browse and then select a correct firmware .bin file. The firmware file path will be shown in the Firmware file name text box.
  4. Click Upgrade to begin the upgrade process. 

TIP: It's more convenient to use the Firmware Upgrade Wizard of Wi-Link Network Manager to upgrade the firmware.
